CHEM 403: Advanced Organic Synthesis is an in-depth course focusing on the principles and techniques involved in the design and execution of complex organic synthesis. This course is intended for students with a solid background in organic chemistry and aims to deepen their understanding of reaction mechanisms, stereochemistry, and retrosynthetic analysis. Through a combination of lectures, laboratory work, and problem-solving exercises, students will develop their synthetic skills and learn to plan and execute multi-step organic syntheses of challenging molecules. Topics covered include transition metal catalysis, organometallic chemistry, and the use of protecting groups.
